Join this global specialty materials company as they expand their sales and business development team in the Eastern USA Region.  Our client is looking to fill a strategic Sales Manager/Business Development position, home-based and ideally located in the Charlotte, NC area.  Other locations from Philadelphia to Atlanta are also acceptable as long as it’s near a major airport.  The position is focused on developing new business opportunities for their silicone-based materials product line.  The emphasis is on Medical/Wound Care applications (bandages, prosthetics, medical device, etc.), General Industrial applications (mold-making, transportation, bonding and product assembly, etc.), and Electronics (RTV, automotive electronics, power electronics, etc.).  There are no direct reports to this position.  The compensation level on this position is attractive, and there are excellent opportunities for advancement.  Overnight travel is expected to be approximately 50%.

Responsibilities:  Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to capture new business and expand existing business at OEM accounts in the; Medical/Wound Care Markets (bandages, prosthetics, medical device, etc.), General Industrial Markets (mold-making, transportation, bonding and product assembly, etc.), and the Electronics Markets (RTV, automotive electronics, power electronics, etc.).  Sell silicone-based materials on a technical level to design, product development, and assembly engineering departments.  The territory will be the Eastern USA Region (OH, KY, TN, MS, and East to the Coast).  Prospect for new business, creating strategic partnerships and strong business relationships.  Manage a new opportunity pipeline and drive sales growth and profitability.  Communicate effectively with customers and internal management.  Forecast market trends and maintain CRM data for all customers and prospects.

Requirements:  5+ years of technical sales experience in the specialty chemical, specialty materials, or adhesives industry.  A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a strong preference to a technical degree.  A business degree is also a possibility.  A high level of self-motivation, with excellent prospecting and business development skills, is essential to success.  Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Compensation:  Base: $120,000 – $140,000, commensurate with experience. Plus, bonus: 20-30% is a realistic average; 40% max. Car allowance.  Excellent benefits.
